I studied physics at the universities of Würzburg and Münster, graduating in 2005 on research on mass measurements of short-lived radionuclides at CERN. After working at GSI in Darmstadt and the Max-Planck-Institut of Nuclear Physiks in Heidelberg I received in 2009 my PhD at the university of Mainz. From 2009 to 2012 I was a postdoc in the nuclear astrophysics group of Hendrik Schatz at the National Superconducting Cyclotron Laboratory in Michigan. Between 2012 to 2018 I worked as a researcher at the Cryogenic Storage Ring of the Max-Planck-Institut of Nuclear Physiks in Heidelberg, before moving to the university of Greifswald working on ion traps. In 2021 I joined the research group of the children’s hospital of the university of Münster studying rare genetic disorders.
