Exhibition and Symposium to Commemorate K. Alex Müller

On 9 January, K. Alex Müller, an award-winning researcher and dedicated teacher, died at the age of 95. The eminent physicist was awarded the 1987 Nobel Prize in Physics with J. Georg Bednorz for the discovery of high-temperature superconductivity. K. Alex Müller was both a professor at the University of Zurich and a fellow at the IBM Research Laboratory in Rüschlikon. UZH and IBM Research are jointly honoring his work and person at a symposium 21 September. The event will be held in German.

Exhibition at Irchel Campus

From 19 September (opening event at 4:00pm) to 14 October, an exhibition in the Lichthof Irchel will provide insights into the outstanding research and life of K. Alex Müller. The exhibition describes the phenomenon of superconductivity, in particular high-temperature superconductivity, and shows where superconductivity is used in technical applications in everyday life.
