The behavior of scattering amplitudes in the vicinity of a physical-region Landau singularity is considered. Anomalous thresholds have been studied by physicists since the 1950’s, e.g. electromagnetic scattering off a deuteron; however, in recent years, not much attention has been paid to the problem in the context of high energy physics. The impact on LHC processes is discussed.
