Topological classifications of band structures have progressed in leaps and bounds in recent years. Amongst the newly identified phases is fragile topology: topological phases that can disappear upon coupling to trivial degrees of freedom. In this talk I will give a brief introduction to these phases, and discuss some of our recent work on connecting fragile topology in energy bands to spin texture topology in momentum space. I will show that there is a rich interplay between these topics, which may facilitate both experimental detection of fragile topology and give new insights into momentum space spin textures.
This talk will be largely based on the recent preprint:
Projected spin texture as a bulk indicator of fragile topology
