Cryogenics (Responsible: Stefan Siegrist)
-
When handling cryogenic liquids, ensure good ventilation of the room (open door)
-
Liquid Nitrogen: get instructed on how to fill and transport Cryogenic containers
-
Never use the elevator with a full cryogenic container
-
Liquid Helium: get an introduction (Stefan Siegrist), never work alone when filling liquid helium
Chemicals (Stefan Siegrist)

-
secure gas cylinders
-
close valve after use
-
label empty or defective bottles

-
Contact Achim Vollhardt first
-
Use dosimeter
-
Safe storage
-
Return the sources if they are not needed
Electricity (Achim Vollhardt)
-
In case of damage to UZH infrastructure, call Service-Center (Tel. 175), in all other cases contact electronics workshop
-
High Voltage: when in doubt call the electronics-workshop
Laser (Matthias Hengsberger)
-
Contact Matthias Hengsberger if you do or plan to use laser sources of laser class 3 or 4, or in case of doubt.
-
Access control and warning signs/lights, safety curtains and goggles, safe optical setups, minimum number of people in the lab; name a lab responsible
