One PostDoc and two PhD student positions

(published August 16, 2018)

We are looking for a brilliant and enthusiastic PostDoc and two equally brilliant and enthusiastic PhD students to join the flavour physics group at University of Zurich.

Our group is involved in the LHCb experiment (http://www.physik.uzh.ch/en/researcharea/lhcb.html) in both data analyses and hardware. In particular, we work on analyses related to the flavour anomalies in rare and semileptonic b-hadron decays and contribute to the development of silicon tracking detectors for the LHCb upgrades I and II. In addition, our group has a leading role in the proposed SHiP experiment at CERN and we have recently joined the Mu3e experiment at PSI.

The PostDoc position is initially for 2 years, but can be renewed depending on performance and the availability of funding. The successful candidate is expected to work on LHCb and possibly, for a fraction of her or his time, on SHiP or Mu3e.

One of the two PhD student positions is mainly for data analysis in LHCb. A possible involvement in hardware activities and the Mu3e experiment is possible. The other PhD student position is split between R&D on Low Gain Avalanche Detectors (LGAD), as would be relevant for LHCb upgrade II, and a data analysis on charm production in hadronic cascades as part of the SHiP experiment.

For all three positions, candidates should ideally start by November 2018, but no later than January 1st, 2019. To apply for any of these positions, please send a CV and the contact details of three references to
